Halide ions doped SrMnO3 for chemical looping oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane

摘要
Chemical looping oxidative dehydrogenation (CL-ODH) of ethane is the most promising method to convert ethane into more valuable ethylene. Further oxidation of ethylene to carbon dioxide and carbon monoxide makes it difficult to improve ethylene selectivity, which is also a technical difficulty at present. In this work, a series of Cl- or Br- doped SrMnO3  as redox catalysts were prepared by sol-gel method and tested for chemical looping oxidative dehydrogenation of ethane. Results showed that 72.64% of ethylene selectivity and 48.46% of ethylene yield can be achieved by the SrMnO3-δBrσ redox catalyst at 725℃, which is significantly improved in comparison to 38.23% ethylene yield of undoped SrMnO3. Halide ions doped redox catalysts can significantly enhance ethylene selectivity and ethylene yield.
